Have you always wanted to try something new but not sure where to start?
The be active Come 'n Try program promotes various activities throughout the year for you to try for FREE. Just keep an eye out for the different activities advertised here each month. You don't even have to book, just turn up or call the number provided to find out what to wear/bring. There is no obligation to join a club, just go along and see if you like it.
Come 'n Try Adventure activities are also offered. These do come with a small fee but is subsidised. You will need to book for these ones.

Come 'n Try aims to encourage participation of people of all ages and abilities to get the most out of life and helps to boost membership in clubs and associations.

Come
'n Try Canoe Polo
Glide
through the water and Come ‘n Try Canoe Polo with Canoe SA and ‘Life. Be in it’
at:- Adelaide Aquatic Centre
on Saturday 14 August from 1pm to 3pm.
People of all ages are encouraged to ‘have a go’, with
qualified instructors to guide you through the basics of Canoe Polo. Water
Safety procedures will be followed to ensure you are safe in the water.
Ian Heard from Canoe SA says “Canoe Polo is not widely known
as a sport but is some of the best fun you can have in a kayak getting wet. It
consists of 2 teams with 5 players on the playing area each. The goals are
suspended off the water and each team is allowed one player as a goalie. If you
can imagine a game that is a cross between basketball and water polo played in
small kayaks”.
You will be learning the basic paddle strokes as
well as an introduction to the basic rules. While the game is a lot of fun,
keeping you safe is also a priority. Referees control the game and
International Canoe Federation Rules apply to games played at the Adelaide
Competition
Instruction is FREE for participants and an entry fee
applies at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre. All equipment for the come ‘n try is
provided.

Calling all strong swimmers aged 11-17 years. Do you
love team sports? If so, Water Polo is the sport for you. Thanks to Adelaide
Tritons Water Polo Club and ‘Life. Be in it’ you can Come ‘n Try Water Polo for
FREE.
Sessions will be held at:
Adelaide Aquatic Centre, Jeffcott Rd, North Adelaide
on Sundays from 1 August to 19 September:4pm " 5.30pm.
Instruction by qualified Coaches is FREE, just pay the
normal pool entry fee.
Coach Debbie Adams says “Water Polo is a low impact,
aerobic sport that develops strength and endurance in players. Once in
training, teams compete at three levels: school, club and state. Water Polo is
a demanding but rewarding sport.
If this sounds like you, then put on your bathers and
come along to see what it’s all about. The water’s fine.
Come 'n Try Water Polo is a challenging way to be
active while learning about this exciting Olympic Sport.
